Cars in Germany's Town Found Marked with Swastikas in Human Blood, Police Confirm

Officers stated they were contacted by a resident who discovered a automobile in Hanau smeared with red-colored liquid

Roughly 50 vehicles have been smeared with what appears to be human blood in the German town of Hanau close to Frankfurt, police confirm authorities.

Vehicles, walls and postboxes were vandalized, in some cases with Nazi symbols, they stated in a statement.

Law enforcement say they were notified during the night on Wednesday night, when a man noticed that a vehicle in the Lamboy area of Hanau had been marked with a reddish-hued liquid.

The substance had been drawn in the shape of a Nazi symbol, they reported.

Law enforcement then discovered multiple other marked cars and residential walls in the nearby vicinity.

Nazi symbols are banned in Germany under legislation prohibiting the visible presentation of Nazi-era symbols.

Officials say preliminary tests indicate the fluid was likely human blood.

"There is still no indication as to where it came from; authorities are presently not aware of any harm in relation with the event," they commented.

City officials stated they were trying "to resolve the mystery" and have requested to the public for tips.

A high-ranking official said the attack made him speechless and required to be addressed promptly.

"This event affects the core of Hanau and reawakens the wounds of the far-right terrorist attack five years ago," he wrote on social media, referring to the killing of nine victims by a shooter targeting individuals of migrant background in 2020.
